Conor Oberst

In case any or all of you have missed this, Conor Oberst is releasing an album in his own name with assistance from the so-called Mystic Valley Band in August.I don't know why he has given the Bright Eyes name the boot, 'cos the music is still very recognizably Bright Eyes-y. But nevermind the name - the fact remains that the album is under way and can even be streamed from Oberst's website here. In case you're more of a hands-on kinda guy/girl theres a downloadable track below for you, enjoy.

Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós just released their seventh album "
með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust" They have been so kind to put out a stream player with the full album, so you and I can listen to it before we make a purchase. Great idea.....I hope that many other artists will follow their good example. You can listen to the album below.
Ohh and by the way just go buy their album, because it is freakin´ awesome!! Click here to purchase.

Ingrid Michaelson

I recently recieved a mail from this artist. I didn´t really got around to listen to her music. And what a shame, cause she makes great music. Pop music with a hint of Jazz, and then she has a voice that just sends you in orbit around, well at least your stereo. Last year she put out her second record "Girls and Boys".
Her music reminds me of Polly Paulusma, so if you like Ingrid Michaelson, you should definitely check out Polly.
Check out this great video, and click here to visit her hp and buy her record.

Plajia

Plajia is a Trip-Rock band, as they call themselves, from Montreal, Canada. What is it with these Canadians?? They seem to just keep on producing great music!! And thank god for that...Plajia just released their debut album "Beautiful explosions" on Orange music. Take a listen, and take a look at their new music video. I´m sure you wont be dissapointed.....
Visit them on their hp here.

Black Kids album out

With their newly released album Partie Traumatic Blacks are continuing along the path they started out on with their curiously titled debut EP Wizard of Ahhhs. It's indie, it's pop, it's catchy and it's enjoyable. If you're into danceable rock/pop garnered with frantic high pitched boy-girl versus and melodies up the wazoo, chances are you are going to dig this. I like the cocky atiitude that's a sure sign of the bands low average age, best illustrated by this quote from the song I've linked below: "I didn't mean to do you no harm, I just understimated my charm again."Good stuff.

Black Kids - I've Underestimated My Charm (Again)

As always, if you like the music, buy the album.

Fleet Foxes video

Ok, so it hasn't been that long since we wrote about Fleet Foxes and their (amazing) debut album by the same name, but I've just stumbled upon the video for the song White Winter Hymnal, which in my opinion is one of this year's best - that goes for the video as well as for the song...

Thanks to Sub Pop for making at available.

The TIWIAE top 5 albums in '08 so far!

Ok, so half the year has past and we thought it wise, or at least interesting, to make an album top 5 list over the last six months. It didn't take long to figure out that the it would be more or less impossible to make one list, since this blog has three writers with common tastes in many aspects, but when it comes to 'best of' lists there could only be trouble should we try to come up with a general TIWIAE list. So we have made our own individual lists (Martin has gone AWOL, but might make his when he get's back). So with no further delay, here goes....

Jakob's top 5

1. The Most Serene Republic - Population
2. Sigur Rós - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust
3. Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell
4. Den Sorte Skole - Lektion #2
5. The William Blakes - Wayne Coyne

Jeppe's top 5

1. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
2. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
3. Grand Archives - Grand Archives
4. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight
5. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

Assorted runner-ups:
The Dodos, Spleen United, Maria Køhnke, Wolf Parade, The Rhonda Harris, Tone, Salem Al Fakir, Elbow, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and loads more...

Please put your 2 cents in - how does your list look?
